Welcome to Keskar

Keskar Music Therapy specialises in relationship-centred music therapy and musical experiences.

We understand that everyone has a unique and complex relationship with music. Creative exploration of music with ourselves and with others can help us learn about ourselves and how we relate and interact with people.

Music therapy uses music as an alternative form of communication to engage and address therapeutic needs of clients, through expression and exploration of themselves and their relationships with others, within a therapeutic relationship. We work with people in a relational, non-directive, and inclusive way to encourage therapeutic change that is tailored to the individual. Music therapy uses play and creativity with musical instruments, songwriting and listening to explore and work to make sense of experiences. Sessions are safe, secure and confidential, offering a supportive environment through client-led interactions, which can involve talking or silence as well as music, depending on client need. Clients do not need to play an instrument, have any musical ability, or have a heightened interest in music to benefit from music therapy.

What does 'Keskar' mean?

'Keskar' is Cornish for 'relationship'. Historically, communities have found connection and relationship through shared music regardless of musical ability.
